The challenges of globalization as well as the impact of migration on an accelerated and changing world, promotes the resilience of neighborhoods, cities, landscapes, buildings, materials, structures, communities, individuals, and organizations. In this scenario, design –in its different forms– is no stranger to this transformation, revealing itself as a laboratory of experimental solutions. Digital technology, parametric design, manufacturing, fabrication, algorithms, AI, simulations, performance, BIM, SIG, among other technologies, provide the infrastructure for new possibilities. It promotes a substantive transformation of understanding and relating to the built environment and the territories they harbor. Through Resilient Design, this IJAC edition seeks to promote thoughtful and revealing experiences, about not only reductive solutions of the ecosystem and built environment vulnerabilities, such as systems redundancy or human-needs based design, but the design-thinking process, influencing the academia and professional practice fields. The aim is to catalyze the processes that lean on transdisciplinary and collaborative design thinking, creating a Resilient Thinking culture.
