The annual award known as the Carbuncle Cup (a carbuncle being a cluster of skin boils) went to the Redrock Stockport, an entertainment and shopping complex in northwest England, in recognition of its being “the worst architectural eyesore of the past year.”

The £45 million (about $58 million) development was designed by the architectural firm BDP as part of a wider regeneration project that includes restaurants, bars and a theater.

BDP, which is working on a £4 billion restoration of the Houses of Parliament in London, did not return calls for comment.
