The ride-sharing company is eyeing India as a potential market for its upcoming aerial taxi project.

During India’s first Global Mobility Summit, Eric Allison (Head of Aviation Programs, Uber) and Nikhil Goel (Head of Product – Aviation, Uber) privately met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk about the future of urban mobility in India and Uber’s role in it. Allison told Modi about Uber Elevate, the ride-sharing company’s ambitious aerial taxi project. He also talked about how uberAIR (the ride-hailing platform’s flying taxi service, which is slated to commence in 2023 in the US cities of Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California) and a multi-modal transportation platform can help the country’s economy, and at the same time, combat the problems of congestion and pollution.
