Architects’ associations have said that their members should not be held responsible for accidents, such as wall collapse, at construction sites. 

The organisations — Indian Institute of Architects, Architects Engineers and Surveyors Association, and Pune Architectural Consultant Association — have submitted letters to this effect to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). 

The letter states that action such as blacklisting or sending notices for cancellation of their licences is not as per the law. “The architects and structural engineers work as professional advisers. They give advices from time to time to the developers. But the final decisions are taken by the developers," stated the letter.
