Unreinforced masonry buildings present a challenge for communities when located in earthquake prone regions. They play important historic, architectural, cultural, and economic roles, yet their vulnerability to earthquakes imperils these buildings and the people in them. The URM Seismic Resilience Symposium will be looking at earthquake risk, public policy and finance, technical/structural issues, and project considerations.

The Symposium is being held on July 18-19 in Portland, Oregon. General Symposium registration opens in March.

The URM Seismic Resilience Symposium includes awards for URM Seismic Upgrade Projects. Your firm has the opportunity to show off some of its greatest seismic upgrade projects. Submit your project today!

July 19th at the Symposium Cocktail Reception and Award Celebration, a jury of judges will present Honor, Merit, and Citation awards for URM seismic projects and research in these categories:

  • Innovative Seismic Upgrades
  • Cost Effective Seismic Upgrades
  • Historic Preservation
  • Small Project
  • Unbuilt Project
  • Research

Submissions are reviewed based on individual merit by our jury. The Jury is made up of invited judges from multiple fields related to design and construction. There will also be a Juror’s Choice Award. All entrants have an equal chance for recognition, regardless of project scale, budget, type, or location.
