Public still remember Swapnalok as the city’s first shopping mall with an escalator. Launched amidst huge fanfare, Swapnalok instantly became the favourite destination of the people in twin cities, raking huge footfalls in just first few days of its opening.
The building will be best remembered for its ease of circulation via internal ramps, stairs and escalators and Johnson Wax inspired columns onto the front facade. This makes shopping an interesting labyrinth of space, as it takes time to grasp the layout for the visitor. Swapnalok Complex houses 200 shops on 3 levels and 160 offices at the above 7 levels.
