In India, Right to Water is a part of the Right to Life ensured under Article 21 of the Indian constitution.

Earlier this month, Chief Minister of the state Kamal Nath had asked the authorities to draft a legislation on Right to Water aiming at ensuring adequate water for every person in the urban areas.


The water crisis is not just in Madhya Pradesh but is prevalent in southern part of the country too. Tamil Nadu is reeling under the worst water crisis.

Recently, the Tamil Nadu government has accepted Kerala's offer of 20 lakh litres drinking water amid an ongoing severe water crisis in Tamil Nadu.

The ruling AIADMK decided to appease the rain god by performing special yagnas in temples across the state. Senior AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar took part in a 'yagna' at a Shiva temple here and planted saplings in the premises of the shrine.
