Generative CAD SystemsSymposium: G-CADS 2004
July 12 - 14, 2004

We are pleased to announce the 2004 International Symposium on
Generative CAD Systems to be held at the School of Architecture, Carnegie
Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The conference is organized by Dr.
Omer Akin, Professor of Architecture, coordinated by the School of
Architecture and in honor of Dr. Ulrich Flemming, Professor Emeritus. This
topic signifies several key ideas:

1.. The significance of generative design systems and their
contribution to the improvement of design through automation.
2.. The contributions of many generations of researchers and system
developers who, through their work, have literally changed the landscape of
CAD in architecture and building engineering.
3.. The need for debate and discussion about the evolving
generations of CAD research and application.

17-18 July 2004

This new biennial conference series provides an international forum for the
presentation and discussion of state-of-the-art and cutting-edge design
research. The conference proceedings will form a continuing archive of
design computing and cognition research. The conference will be preceded by
a series of half-day workshops on specialist topics in design computing and

The conference is soliciting full papers that will be rigorously refereed by
an international board of reviewers and accepted papers will be published as
a book. In addition posters describing ongoing research are being sought.

Authors of selected papers may be invited to participate in special issues
of AIEDAM, International Journal of Design Computing, or Automation in

CAADRIA (The Association for Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in
Asia) is an Association of those who teach ands conduct research in
Computer-aided architectural design in schools of Architecture throughout
Asia. It was established on 26 April 1996 and has members in Asia. CAADRIA
maintains close relationship with CAAD Futures, ACADIA, SIGRADI and eCAADe
so that it can extend collaborative support beyond our region.
The first conference was held in Hong Kong (1996), and has continued the
conference series through Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Sydney, Malaysia,
Thailand and Korea.

The Ninth CAADRIA conference will be hosted by the Institute of Millennium
Environmental Design and Research, Yonsei University, Korea on April 28-30,
