VietNamNet Bridge – In the Mekong River Delta, there are hundreds of
houses that date back more than 100 years, and sadly many of these
historic buildings have been demolished.

To date in the area only one historic house in Phu Hoa Village, Dong Hoa
Hiep Commune in Tien Giang Province has been preserved with funding of
VND1.8bil (US$112,500) provided by the Japanese International
Cooperation Agency (JICA). The house consists of five compartments built
on 100 wooden pillars. It has been recognised as one of the nine most
beautiful houses in Vietnam.

However, it is reported that, the number of houses being preserved like
the two above mentioned houses is very limited.
