Dubai, June 24 (IANS) Emaar MGF, the joint venture between Dubai-based
Emaar Properties and India's MGF and the only bidder so far for
constructing the 2010 Commonwealth Games Village in Delhi, has not yet
got a firm commitment from the Indian authorities yet, say its
officials. They are worried about being able to complete the huge task
with the games just three years away.
With environmentalists protesting the village, which is to come up in
eastern Delhi near the river Yamuna, and the Delhi Development Authority
(DDA), the Indian capital's housing authority, yet to decide on the
developer, the fate of the games village is still in limbo.
Last week, the other bidder for the project, DLF, was disqualified on
the grounds of not fulfilling all the criteria in the tender.
