Dan McDougall reports from the chaos and filth of Dharavi in Mumbai,
where a recycling industry is helping thousands claw a way out of poverty.
MUMBAI: The consultant for the Dharavi redevelopment project stands to
gain a cool Rs 90 crore from the multi-crore venture of the government.
On February 4, 2004, the state housing department issued a government
resolution appointing Mukesh Mehta, a US-based architect, as the
consultant for the Dharavi redevelopment project.
As consultant for the project, Mehta is entitled to collect 1% of the
total project cost as his fee.
