Last week, Zagade had said that the PMC has violated the Development Control (DC) rules for the last 24 years by sanctioning building plans of architects who do not have mandatory civic licenses. Corporator Vikas Mathkari (BJP) had said that Section C-6 (6.1, 6.2 and 6.3) of the DC rules drafted in 1987 makes it mandatory for the PMC to issue yearly licence to architects working in the city.

This provision was subsumed to make architects accountable. If an architect or a developer is found guilty of being involved in any illegal work like sub-standard or illegal construction, the PMC can cancel his licence and ban the architect from working within the PMC limits. However, in the last 24 years, the PMC has not issued a single licence, Mathkari said on Wednesday.
