South Elevation

The roof structure consists of simple 50x100mm welded mild steel box sections, tied in the middle to make an A-frame. The ceiling is clad with terracotta ceiling tiles, and the roof is clay with double-groove Mangalore tiles and skylight and ventilator tiles to permit light and ventilation through the roof. These roof and ceiling tiles were the previous livelihood of the factory but are no longer produced by this factory. The pitched roof is interrupted by the brick water tower, courtyard and concrete terraces.  The water tower relates back to the factory and houses a toilet below for ease of use by factory workers and truck drivers below. The courtyard opens to a common sitting area for clients and meetings with factory staff.  Broken tiles were used for filing within the flooring. Paving uses angled Hoffman kiln arch blocks, which were found stacked on site on one of the earliest visits to the factory. These blocks were salvaged from leftovers from a previous specialist order.
