Site Plan

The new office building defines the rough street to the west of the factory that leads towards to the river. This street is the main thoroughfare for people, trucks and materials. To the east of the factory are mounds of stockpiled clay, now brought from further upriver or inland. The cycles of collection, accumulation, movement and use of clay creates a shifting topography similar to a quarry. The mounds are periodically extracted from and replenished. The ground rises steeply to the entrance to the north of the factory, where stacks of terracotta bricks, hollow blocks and wood for kiln firing accumulate.
