Experts from different institutions in the country held discussions with the visiting delegates from the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC and the World Bank, who are presently on a visit to Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, here, on Tuesday.

A professor from the Indian School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Surinder Suneja spoke on landscape gardening and resilient cyclone structures. A representative of the Centre for Environment Education [CEE], Ahmedabad, Meena Nareshwar suggested interactive interpretation methods for the zoo.

A representative of World Wildlife Fund (WWF-India), Hyderabad, Farida Tampal explained about the possibility of partnership in the training of volunteers, Animal keepers and supervisors on zoo-related issues.

The zoo friends/volunteers actively involved in the discussions with experts and delegates.

Zoo Curator B. Vijay Kumar said the discussions closed on a positive note of hope for redevelopment of the zoo to match international standards.
