LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) launched the Master Conservation and Re-Development Plan (MCRP) of the walled city on Friday.

The briefing of the MCRP was attended by the heritage experts, scholars, architects, and students from universities. Architect Nayyer Ali Dada, Nespak General Manager Adil Nazeer Ahmad and senior architects of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture were also present.

The key components of the MCRP were explained to the participants and that included land use and zoning planning, a plan for conservation of the walled city, development, improvement and maintenance of municipal services, public passages, urban open spaces and public areas.

The goals and objectives of the Master Conservation and Re-Development Plan (MCRP) included protection of territorial integrity of the walled city and conservation of its architectural and urban heritage.
