The American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) Biennial Convention - 2016 organising committee invites papers from the graduate or undergraduate students studying engineering/ architecture/ computer science in public or private engineering schools in Bangladesh.

The organising committee is particularly interested in papers that are of value to the practicing professionals, with an emphasis to solutions to practical problems pertaining to Bangladesh. Papers are solicited on any subject pertaining to the scope of the convention that includes, but is not limited to, the major topics listed below.

  • Energy solution for Bangladesh - Renewable (solar, wave, energy harvesting, storage), coal, fossil etc.
  • Solution for the traffic problem in Bangladesh mega cities through urban planning
  • Computer and telecommunication applications - power supplies, UPS, energy storage, energy harvesting etc.
  • Computer Science - Improvement of Bangladesh government services with computer database and programming (e-service, e-health, e-education etc.)
  • Urban pollution - electric and hybrid vehicles, infrastructure, traction
  • Conservation of the ecosystem of Bangladesh
  • Green architecture and its adoption to Bangladesh housing development

Each paper may have multiple authors including contribution from a supervisor. The lead student author of first winning paper will receive one convention registration together with paid expenses to attend the convention (subject to the issuance of US visa) and present the paper. The paid expenses would include airfare, food, and lodging (only to cover the duration of the convention). The other authors of the winning paper may attend the conference for free but they have to cover all their travel related expenses including lodging with their own fund. Second and third winning papers would receive monetary rewards of Tk 15,000 and Tk 10,000 respectively. The lead authors of the winning papers would have to sign a copyright transfer form to allow the AABEA organising committee to publish the papers in the conference proceedings.

Proposed papers should be submitted as a two-page digest summarising the contents. The summary should include an abstract, an outline of the proposed solution for the topic of choice, and a biography (not included in the two page digest limit) of the presenter. Final paper should be limited to four pages (including pictures), single spacing, font 11. More details would be available later.

The convention will bring together practicing engineers, computer scientists, architects, researchers as well as other professionals for interactive discussions on the latest advances in various areas of engineering, architecture, computer science, and other related fields.
