VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday put the seal on infrastructure development projects in three zones of the capital region under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). There will be development of roads, bridges, drinking water, sewage and power in each zone.

Naidu reviewed the activities of APCRDA with officials. The APCRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar told him that the contractors will be finalised within three days, while the procurement process will start this week under HAM.

Sreedhar explained to the chief minister the comparisons between Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and HAM, which ensures access to sufficient private capital and high-quality service and maintenance. Under HAM the progress of a project is linked to both physical and financial milestones that ensure on-ground development. It will take three years to complete the projects and the developers will be responsible for maintenance for seven years. Meanwhile, Foster & Partners will meet Naidu on September 11 to give him the final designs of the government complexes.

However, Hafeez Contractor & Aarvee made an alternative design for the facade of the Legislative Assembly building. The chief minister asked them to forward the designs to F&P and make the final design.

The bid evaluation is in process for the Chief Minister Residence and Raj Bhavan, while the architect will be confirmed in a week. The tenders for the VIP Housing Apartments have been floated, but they are yet to be uploaded.
