Syracuse University School of Architecture - a top-ranked research institution that is committed to building a diverse faculty - seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in the history of architecture at the Assistant Professor rank starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Teaching responsibilities include the development, administration, and teaching of large history survey lecture courses and smaller seminars at the undergraduate and graduate level, including the supervision of Teaching Assistants. Responsibilities also include working towards an internationally recognized research profile, serving the school, university, and greater community, and fostering an equitable and inclusive student experience.

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in the history of architecture or allied field by the time of the appointment, or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, essays published in recognized field-relevant journals, forthcoming high impact essays or books, and/or research in progress that targets recognized venues for publication, participation in field-leading research projects and professional networks, presentations at academic or field-relevant conferences, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline of architectural history, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. Candidates should show a strong commitment to exploring the historical relationship between the natural and built environments and the social, political, and economic context of architectural production. We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarly agenda examines the interconnected global histories of architecture and the built environment.
