PA language barrier between the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and The Council of Architecture, India (CoA) ensured that it was seven years before an architect firm Deshpande & Dikshit Associates to be blacklisted by the CoA.

The PMC had written to the CoA recommending that the firm’s recognition by the apex architect body be cancelled, however, the CoA could not do so as it failed to understand the communiqué that was in Marathi.

PMC had written a letter to the CoA in 2003, complaining about the said architect firm for their professional misconduct while obtaining building permissions. But since the letter was written in Marathi, the authorities couldn’t understand what the PMC was trying to say in it.
