Contract to Indian companies to construct buildings etc., in foreign countries

564. SHRI M. R. KRISHNA: Will the Minister of COMMERCE AND CIVIL SUPPLIES AND COOPERATION be pleased to state: (a) what is the number of

(a) what is the number of Indian companies which have been awarded contracts to construct buildings and other projects in foreign countries;

(b) what is the total cost of those contracts;  

(c) how many of them have been satisfactorily executed; and

(d) what is the number of projects handled by Indian companies which have suffered losses on that account?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE, CIVIL SUPPLIES AND COOPERATiON (SHRI ARIF BEG): (a) According to information available with the Government, 19 Indian companies have been awarded civil construction contracts in foreign countries.

(b) The total cost of these contracts is over Rs. 1,300 crores.

(c) and (d) No information is available with Government.
