Dear Council President Director,
I have twice had the privilege of visiting both the Kahn and Raje buildings defining the IIM Ahmedabad experience.
On the second visit the sublime silence and light experienced previously in the dormitories were shattered by indiscriminate mechanical and electrical retrofits.
It is encouraging to know that best practice renovation techniques, are to be adopted in the management of the Kahn IIM buildings’ restoration. This has been well demonstrated by Finnish architects sensitive adaptation of 20C masterworks of architecture being elegantly restored to enable accommodating changing service and user needs. Hopefully this sensitive approach is adopted to restore the silence and light as originally intended.
