Issue of "Senzacornice è una rivista online di arte contemporanea e critica" magazine

Senzacornice is a digital journal of contemporary art and criticism (ISSN 2281-3330) aimed at academic update and the online circulation of research carried out
mostly by young scholars working at universities in Italy and abroad. The journal was first published in November 2011; the issues are thematic and are published every four months.

The next issue's topic of is “symbol”.

From the Latin symbolum, from the Greek sýmbolon (‘juxtaposition’, ‘sign of recognition’), word composed of sýn and bállo, which in composition means ‘put together’. In ancient times the tessera hospitalitatis was defined as a symbol, that was the ring, or other mark, which was broken into two parts, which, kept by two families, served to prove the hospitality given and received and the mutual friendship. Today it means: element representative of an abstract entity, conventional graphic expression, mark, abbreviation. In particular, its figurative sense indicates any element capable of arousing in the mind an idea different from that offered by its immediate sensitive aspect, but capable of evoking it through some of the aspects that characterize the element itself.

Anyone interested in submitting an article can send to our editors ([email protected]), by September 1, 2020, the working title, and, by September 15, 2020, the final version of the article according to the editorial guidelines and together with a curriculum vitae. Even artists are invited to participate. They can send their works, inspired by the theme proposed, that will be selected as the magazine's cover. For those who want to submit an article outside the proposed theme, they may contact our editors for a possible publication in the ’Fuoritema’ (Off Topic) section of the review.

Senzacornice è una rivista digitale di arte contemporanea e critica (ISSN 2281-3330) finalizzata all’aggiornamento scientifico e alla circolazione in rete di ricerche condotte principalmente da giovani studiosi afferenti a diverse università nazionali
e internazionali. Nata nel novembre 2011, la rivista è tematica e a cadenza quadrimestrale.

Il tema del prossimo numero sarà il "simbolo".

Dal latino symbolum, dal greco sýmbolon (“accostamento”, “segno di riconoscimento”), voce composta da sýn e bállo, che in composizione significa “metto insieme”. Anticamente fu definita simbolo la tessera hospitalitatis cioè l’anello, o altro contrassegno, che veniva spezzato in due parti, le quali, conservate da due famiglie, servivano per comprovare l’ospitalità data e ricevuta e la reciproca amicizia. Oggi il termine indica: un elemento rappresentativo di un’entità astratta, un’espressione grafica convenzionale, un marchio, un’abbreviazione. In particolar modo, il suo senso figurativo indica qualsiasi elemento atto a suscitare nella mente un’idea diversa da quella data dal suo immediato aspetto sensibile, ma capace di evocarla attraverso uno degli aspetti che caratterizzano l’elemento stesso.

Chiunque fosse interessato a presentare un proprio contributo in proposito è pregato di inviare alla nostra Redazione, tramite email ([email protected]), entro il 1° settembre 2020, il titolo provvisorio, ed entro il 15 settembre 2020 la versione definitiva dell’articolo, che dovrà essere scritto seguendo le norme redazionali e accompagnato da un curriculum vitae. Anche gli artisti sono invitati a partecipare, inviando alla Redazione le loro opere ispirate alla tematica in oggetto. Chiunque invece intenda proporre un articolo che esuli dal tema, ma che sia in linea con gli ambiti disciplinari abbracciati da Senzacornice, può contattare la nostra Redazione per un’eventuale pubblicazione nella sezione ‘Fuoritema’.
