Sitting in his small home office, during the months of the pandemic, Jaimini Mehta has recorded fifty years of his architectural thinking to share with everyone. Drawing from various diverse sources like philosophy, science, sociology, literature, art, and music, Mehta weaves a narrative for architecture that is unique in both its depth and breadth.

Prof. Jaimini Mehta is a practicing architect and an independent academic based in Baroda, India. He studied architecture at M.S. University of Baroda, and at Uni. of Pennsylvania (Honors) in the Studio taught by Louis Kahn in 1965. He went on to work in the offices of Louis Kahn and Mitchell / Giurgola Asso. In Philadelphia and New York.

Returning back to India in 1975 he setup his own practice and taught at a number of Indian as well as American universities. He was an Adjunct Professor at Rensselaer Institute at Troy, N.Y. and at CEPT university in Ahmedabad, India. He also worked as Head of the Schools of Architecture at Baroda and Goa. At present he is Hon. Director of the Baroda based "Centre for the Study of Urbanism and Architecture".

His architectural work has been exhibited in Mumbai, New York, Baroda and Ahmedabad.

He has delivered public lectures in New York, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Boston, Melbourne and Istanbul in addition to several cities in India. In 1975 he collaborated with Romaldo Giurgola in co-authoring the first ever comprehensive book on the work and ideas of Louis Kahn. His other published books, are "Rethinking Modernity - Towards Post Rational Architecture" (2011), "Embodied Vision - Interpreting the Architecture of Fatehpur Sikri" (2014) and "Critiquing the Modern in Architecture" (2017). His next books, "Non-Aesthetic Modernity in Architecture" and "Sense of History" are awaiting publication.
