Sir/Madam,

As you may we aware the Delhi Urban Art Commission was set up by an Act of Parliament in 1973 to preserving, developing and maintaining the aesthetic quality of urban and environmental design within Delhi and important part of Commission mandate is conservation, preservation and beautification of monumental buildings etc in Delhi.

While Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) takes care of heritage buildings which are atleast 100 years old, there are many such buildings in Delhi having heritage value. We have since received a proposal from INTACH that the list of heritage buildings need to be expanded to include even iconic building build after independence so that these buildings could be preserved and get proper maintenance for their conservation. Accordingly INTACH has prepared a list of 62 such buildings which is annexed.

It is requested that your suggestions for inclusion or deletion from this list may please be initiated before a final decision could be taken on the subject.

Regards,

(Vinod Kumar)
Secretary
